Cibus Tec, the countdown has begun

20/08/2023 - François-Xavier Branthôme
Launch of the first Observatory for Food Processing Machines and Equipment
The program has been unveiled in Milan for the 53rd edition of the Cibus Tec (Parma, October 24-27, 2023), the specialist event dedicated entirely to technologies for the food and beverage industrial sectors.

Highlights of the show and features of the scenario were presented by Thomas Rosolia (President of Koeln Parma Exhibitions and CEO of Koelnmesse Italia), Antonio Cellie (CEO of Koeln Parma Exhibitions and CEO of Fiere di Parma), Emanuele Di Faustino (Head of Industry, Retail and Nomisma Services) and Matteo Zoppas (President of ICE Agency).
The meeting was also an opportunity to announce the launch of the first Observatory for Food Processing Machines and Equipment – created with the support of Nomisma and dedicated to the Italian food processing industry – with the aim of identifying the scope, performance, markets and levels of competitiveness of the equipment sector on an international scale. Against this backdrop, an analysis of the positioning of Italian machines in particular on international markets was presented in early July in light of the strong growth in the sector's exports, which in the first quarter of 2023 recorded growth of 20% over the equivalent period of 2022.

Just a few months after the Cibus Tec 2023 opened its registration process, there is already almost no available exhibition space left, with 1,200 confirmed exhibitors, including the best "Made in Italy" food machinery equipment companies and over 400 foreign brands from 30 countries, including Germany, France, Turkey, Denmark, India, the United States, and China. Over 40,000 visitors from Italy and 120 countries around the world are expected in Parma from October 24 to 27, with a strong presence from Europe, the United States, South America and Africa. In addition, thanks to major investments, collaboration with the ICE Agency and support from the Emilia-Romagna Region, over 3,000 VIP Top Buyers from food companies in over 60 countries have been invited, including representatives from the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

One of the world's oldest trade fairs, this event has always been held in Parma, an emblematic location for the Italian food sector, with some 1,200 food industries that have grown up in the heart of a region that accounts for 60% of Italian food production within a 200 km radius.
Among Italy's top food machinery exports in 2022 were packaging machinery and equipment worth EUR 4 billion, food processing technologies worth EUR 2.5 billion, and bottling machinery worth EUR 1.5 billion. In the same year, the main outlet markets for Italian food technology exports were the countries of the European Union, with 39% of exports, North America, with 16% of the total, followed by Latin America, non-EU Europe and the Far East.

Another special feature of the 2023 edition is the installation of a larger space dedicated to the best Food Tech and Artificial Intelligence start-ups. Dozens of selected companies from around the world will present the most innovative applications of artificial intelligence and robotics to the public: highly innovative solutions which, from cultivation to the packaging of processed products, right through to nutritional analysis processes, will enable more sustainable and efficient nutrition and a safer approach to food.
