From 30 November to 1 December 2017, Piacenza, Italy
The management of water resources will be one of the main topics at the 2017 event
Tomato World 2017, the exhibition dedicated to the professional world of processing tomatoes, will be held at Piacenza Expo from 30 November to 1 December 2017.
Traditionally, Tomato World is a gathering where the tomato industry takes stock of future scenarios. In the two opening days, presentations and technical meetings will take place, dealing with this strategic sector, which represents an important and characteristic production of Italy (including the contribution of the Northern Italy Tomato Distretto interbranch organization), as well as many other countries of Europe and all over the world.
The topics covered will focus on the economic dynamics of the sector, on new market outlets, on innovative technology and on cultivation techniques that can produce economies of scale and qualitative added-value.
Other highly topical issues like water resources will be discussed at Tomato World 2017. The preparatory meetings of the Technical Committee have revealed a strong desire to explore the issues linked to climate change and the need to find strategic ways of taking account of irrigation water requirements as well as drinking water needs and environmental implications.
Through contextualization of the current situation and the effects of climate change, Tomato World 2017 will highlight the technological improvements and good agricultural practices developed over the last decade for more effective water management. The purpose is to inform and publicize the importance of water resources in agriculture by identifying solutions and tools for more sustainable management of resources during agricultural operations.
