18/09/2018 - François-Xavier Branthôme - 2018 Season - Lire en français
Last weeks with more than 1 million sT harvested?

The figures published by the PTAB show that during the eleventh week of harvest (ended 15 September), deliveries of processing tomatoes amounted to 1,120,402 short tons (sT) (1,016,317 metric tons (mT)). Weekly deliveries are now slowly declining, as shown by the figures for the current week (22 September), which are expected to be 1,079,582 sT (979,289 mT): this ninth week with more than 1 million sT delivered brings the processed quantities forecast in 2018 in California plants at 10.889 million sT (9.878 million mT); these quantities are higher by 1.670 million sT (1.515 million mT, + 18%) than those of the 2017 season at the same date, and down only 2.6% over the average of the last three seasons (2015, 2016 and 2017).
This provisional amount represents 92% of the revised estimate for California 2018 season (11.8 million sT or 10.7 million mT).

As of September 1, the quantities of organic industry tomato harvested amounted to 476,729 sT (or 432.441 mT), second only to the highest historical level recorded during the 2016 crop year (602,613 sT) at the same date.
