Obituary: Takashi Tsutsumi

Mr. Takashi Tsutsumi, Executive Director of the Japan Tomato Processors Assocation (JTPA), passed away in the early morning of 5 July 2021 at the age of 68. According to his will, his funeral on 9 July 2021 was only attended by the family.

Mr. Tsutsumi was born in Fukuoka (Japan) in November 1952. He joined JTPA in April 1975 and became its Director General in June 2005, and was promoted to Executive Director in June 2010. Over his 46 years at JTPA, he contributed to the promotion of domestic processing tomato production and the expansion of consumption of processed tomato products with his extremely high sense of responsibility and leadership. He also represented JTPA on the board of WPTC for many years.

Ms. Mie Kogoma, who until now was Director of JTPA, was nominated to replace Mr. Tustumi as Executive Director of JTPA as of 1st August 2021. She has been engaged in the food industry for about 40 years from her previous job to the present, and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in JAS law and JAS certification work. After joining JTPA in april 2009, along with Mr. Tsutsumi, she has been deeply involved in the promotion of domestic processing tomato production, and she earned the trust of many producers.
