Italy: 100 years of the Petti brand

18/04/2025 - Sophie Colvine
Italian Food S.p.A. and the Petti brand will be celebrating their 100th anniversary with the launch of the new Passata ai 6 pomodori “La Completa” at TuttoFood 2025.

The Antonio Petti fu Pasquale S.p.A. was the first factory and founding nucleus of what is now the Petti Group. Built in 1925 in Nocera Superiore, in the province of Salerno, the factory is located in the center of the traditional tomato canning territory. The plant is now  devoted to the processing of concentrated and double concentrated tomato paste and private label lines for the foreign market.

Italian Food S.p.A was born in 1973 when the Petti Group bought the factory site of Venturina Terme (LI) in Tuscany. Gradually, the plant of Venturina developed a large production capacity that could provide directly with the finished product the Italian and the International customers, thus transforming a satellite company of the Group into a new company. In 2013 the company decided to use its production capacity to launch a high-quality line of canned tomatoes brand: “Petti”. Now about 50 million pieces produced in the last year between passata, pulp, concentrate and peeled tomatoes, from fresh tomatoes of Italian origin, mainly from Tuscany, processed with a proprietary low-temperature method.

Pasquale Petti, the fourth generation of the family, and current General Manager of Italian Food declared recently to Corriere della Sera: "We are still on the market thanks to our family tradition. Our turnover is 44.8 million euro, up 8%, and Petti brand products have grown by 12%, especially in Italy (75% of sales), after difficult years. We are growing more than the market average, which tends to be saturated, because we are back both on the shelves of the major national large-scale retail chains and in communication. Today we have developed modern control and production systems and obtained ISO 22005 certification, which refers to the traceability of the Tuscan food chain. For us, it means committing ourselves to supporting the entire Tuscan tomato chain, one of the most important in Italy, in which we have invested, taking over some farms that supply us with raw material."

"TuttoFood 2025 is the perfect stage for us to celebrate together with our customers and partners the first one hundred years of our history: a history with the flavour of passion, innovation and above all Italian spirit," says Pasquale Petti in the company’s press release. "We will proudly present to the public our new La Completa 6 tomato puree, which has recently become part of our premium line of tomato preserves Petti. A product that in a short time has become a symbol of our commitment to enhancing Italian tradition, with an eye always turned to the future."

The new Passata ai 6 Pomodori “La Completa”, created to celebrate the 100th anniversary has  already been Elected “Product of the Year 2025”. An innovative product representative of the entire peninsula, made with a rigorous selection and processing of the tomatoes grown in the six most iconic Italian regions for canning tradition: Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Umbria, Lazio, Campania and Apulia.

The Italian Food stand at TuttoFood (K13 in Hall 4), will also be animated by show-cooking events signed by content creator Francesca Gambacorta, known on social networks as @frafoodlove.
