California: Weekly tonnage as of 5 October 2024

The harvest season started a few days earlier than in previous years, with small quantities of organic tomatoes. As the 2024 season draws to a close, PTAB figures show that California processing tomato deliveries continue to decline, with the year-to-date total now just above the five-year average to date.
 
For week fourteen (ending October 5th) PTAB is estimating 507,796 metric tonnes (t) (559,749 short tons) were delivered to the factories. Week fifteen (ending October 12th) is estimated to be 311,645 t (343,530 short tons), which would bring the year-to-date total to an estimated 9,794,746 t (10,796,859 short tons).
For the week 11 ending on September 14, solids were 5.28 compared to 5.22 for the same time period in the 2023 season or 0.06 higher.

No Organic processing tomato deliveries for the week thirteen (ending September 28th) were made, so the organic harvest is now finished, and represents 3.9% of total harvest. The 2024 organic harvest ranks ninth in the last twelve seasons.

If the weekly projections come true, the projected quantities on October 12th would represent approximately 98.1% of the newly revised California processors' target (9.98 million t) and would be 1% above the average quantities delivered on the same date over past five years.
