California: Weekly tonnage as of 28 September 2024

The harvest season started a few days earlier than in previous years, with small quantities of organic tomatoes. Figures collected by the PTAB show that California processing tomato deliveries are now decreasing, with the year-to-date total only slightly above the 5-year average to date.

For week thirteen (ending September 28^th) PTAB is estimating 647,371 metric tonnes (t) (713,604 short tons) were delivered to the factories. Week fourteen (ending October 5^th) is estimated to be 486,174 t (535,915 short tons), which would bring the year-to-date total to an estimated 9,453,021 t (10,420,172 short tons).

No Organic processing tomato deliveries for the week twelve (ending September 21^st) were made, so the organic harvest is now finished. The total organic harvest is above the level of 2019 but stays under the level of the last 4 years.

If the weekly projections come true, the projected quantities on September 28^th would represent approximately 94,7% of the newly revised California processors' target (9.98 million t) and would be 2.7% above the average quantities delivered on the same date over past five years.
