Alistair Blake elected President of AMITOM

08/04/2022 - AMITOM , Sophie Colvine
During its Annual General Meeting held in Rome on Monday 4 April, AMITOM elected Alistair Blake as its new President.

Born in 1982 Alistair Blake was educated in the UK. After graduating from college in 2000 Alistair went on to the University of Reading, UK to study Food Manufacturing to prepare him for the Family Business. After spending some time in Australia working on a tomato farm during harvest, Alistair went on in 2005 to join his father in Merko. As a second generation he worked his way through the various departments of the company and is today the Chairman of the Board at Merko as well as Frigo-Pak, their sister company involved in canned fruits.

Alistair has been involved with AMITOM for many years as a representative of SALKONDER, the Turkish tomato processors association, and is also a board member of Tomato News. He follows the footstep of his father who was AMITOM President from 2006 to 2009.

He will be assisted in his new role by Martin Stilwell (HIT, Portugal) who was elected AMITOM Vice-President, a position he already held from 2009 to 2012.
