Alimentos Españoles to implement GLOBALGAP certification

05/05/2025 - Press release , Madeleine Royère-Koonings
ALIMENTOS ESPAÑOLES ALSAT, S.L. will take a decisive step forward toward sustainability and innovation in our coming season 2025, with the implementation of GLOBALG.A.P. IFA V.6 SMART, GRASP 2.0, SPRING 2.0, and FSA from the SAI Platform.

With this new step, they aim to consolidate their leadership in the industrial tomato derivatives sector (concentrates, dice, and pulp) by integrating the most advanced international standards in sustainability, good agricultural practices, social responsibility, and water management.

Version 6 SMART of the GLOBALG.A.P. IFA standard represents the most ambitious evolution in good agricultural practices, integrating digitalization, advanced traceability, and a comprehensive vision of environmental, economic, and social sustainability.
GRASP 2.0 (GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice) strengthens the social dimension of sustainability, assessing and ensuring fair working conditions, equity, legal compliance, and worker well-being at source.
• The SPRING 2.0 module (Sustainable Program for Irrigation and Groundwater Use), also from GLOBALG.A.P., addresses the responsible management of water, a critical resource in tomato cultivation. Their intention is to use it as an effective means to promote efficient water use and contribute to the climate resilience of our agricultural environment.
• Meanwhile, the SAI Platform's FSA (Farm Sustainability Assessment) offers a holistic framework for evaluating and improving sustainability on farms. By adopting it, they aim to ensure compliance with criteria aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting regenerative and transparent agricultural practices.

With this pioneering integration of standards, ALIMENTOS ESPAÑOLES ALSAT, S.L. is positioning itself as a model company within the European agri-food sector, anticipating the demands of international markets, large-scale retailers, and consumers, who are increasingly committed to sustainability and corporate responsibility.
