Zimbabwe: a new processing plant

05/07/2017 - François-Xavier Branthôme
Sondelani Ranch, a family agro-processing business in Matobo District, Zimbabwe, has acquired a state-of-the-art tomato processing plant for the production of purée, as part of its efforts to increase its revenue by manufacturing value-added fruit products. The plant is said to have a processing capacity of 150 tonnes of raw tomatoes per day, thanks to equipment bought in Italy. The cost of the machinery was not disclosed.
The new processing plant is a joint project between Sondelani Ranch and TMG, an organization responsible for training farmers and helping them learn how to get their produce to the processing plants.
