Navatta: a reference for tomato processing equipment

05/12/2019 - Press release , François-Xavier Branthôme
Since its foundation in 1983 and beginnings as a preferred sub-supplier of single machines and systems for all the big food equipment brands of Parma and Italy, Navatta has developed its own know-how and manufacturing expertise in the sector of fresh tomatoes processing, from factory reception to unloading and sorting, with a reputation for excellent integration of its equipment in tomato peeling, dicing and crushing processes.

Specifically in the tomato processing sector, the Navatta Group manufactures and commissions processing lines, systems and equipment for:
  - peeling, dicing and crushing tomatoes for sauces, purees and paste, filled into all kinds of containers, including aseptic conditioning.
  - aseptic filling operations, for spout or spoutless bag-in-box containers (3 to 20 liters), 220 liter bag-in-drum conditionings and 1000 to 1500 liter bin-in-box or IBCs.
  - the production of formulated products (jam, ketchup, sauces, drinks), from the unloading of ingredients to processes like dosing, mixing, mechanical and thermal stabilizing, and filling into all forms of packaging or aseptic mini-tanks.
  - processing pilot plants.

Currently, the Navatta Group directly operates on the market as a machinery manufacturer of fresh fruit and vegetables processing lines, with a portfolio and a worldwide reference list ranging from single equipment to complete turn-key lines.

Navatta has also continued with the long-standing activity of manufacturing high precision mechanical carpentry and tooling machines that are designed to include specific parts to meet customer requirements (including after-sales services)..

Since 2009, the Navatta Group has had its own headquarters on the outskirts of Parma, Italy, where its new 10 000 square-meter factory is located.

The 2019 edition of the Cibus Tec exhibition, a major event in Italy in this sector, provided a great opportunity for the Navatta Group Food Processing S.r.l. thanks to the big increase in foreign visitors – about 40 000 participants attended, of which 25% came from abroad.

The Navatta Group Food Processing S.r.l. operates on foreign markets for 85% of its activities, where the company's business is focused on manufacturing complete lines for the processing of tomatoes, fruit and vegetables, from the reception of the raw materials to the conditioning of semi-finished or finished products.

The Group presented the following innovative high-technology machines:
- An aseptic sterilizer, cooler and filler, which is FDA certifiable for fruit and vegetable puree production, and for high quality products where the organoleptic characteristics need to be preserved.

- A patented automatic bag-loading system installed on a single-head aseptic filler for filling bags without the need of operator intervention.

- A manual aseptic, ultraclean filler for baskets, which is also suitable for filling small bags with spouts (from 3 to 20 liters) with the possibility of using different types of spouts, including the open-close type, with the possibility of flushing the spout with steam before opening, with a consequential reduction of the surface bacterial load, and the possibility of injecting nitrogen (or another gas) at the end of filling.

- A patented turbo-extractor with turbo-presses for the extraction of juice and the recovery of juice from waste materials, all of which are “high quality and efficient systems”. It is a turbo-press that can be operated in the tomato processing sector, allowing a reduction of the inlet humidity from about 80% to 45-47%, recovering important quantities of liquid from wastes with subsequent increases in returns in less than one season.

- A cutter for the production of pesto sauce, pasta sauces and jams, with heating/cooking carried out by indirect steam feeding and independent pressure regulation and/or vacuum adjustment in the product tank, including the possibility of direct steam injection into the product and aroma recovery.

- A rotary coil mixing/cooking/evaporating/sterilizing system for the food and pharmaceutical industry.

The exhibition provided great opportunities for the Group, which was able to get in touch with new buyers from all over the world, while also consolidating relationships with existing customers.
