California: Crop situation as of 22 Sept., projection to 29 Sept.

25/09/2018 - François-Xavier Branthôme - 2018 Season - Lire en français
Quantities likely to exceed slightly the latest USDA estimate
According to the PTAB figures, the quantities delivered during the 12th week of the season (ended 22 September) finally did not reach 1 million short tons (sT), at only 988 983 sT (897 106 metric tons (mT)). With 854 132 sT (774 783 mT) forecast by PTAB for the current week, the quantities processed in California in 2018 should amount to 11 636 737 sT (10 555 684 mT) on 29 September. This volume would be 18% lower (1.77 million sT or 1.61 million mT) than the final result of 2017, but only 2% compared to the quantities processed on average during the previous three seasons.
This provisional amount represents more than 98% of the revised estimate for the 2018 California season (11.8 million tonnes or 10.7 million metric tonnes).

Processed quantities of organic tomatoes reached 502,214 sT at the end of week 37 (ended Sept. 15), 27% more than in 2017 and 18% higher than the average of the past three seasons.
